| Alfasuds at the Oldtimer Grand Prix
2005 As every year, the German Alfaclub e.V. had organized a large Alfa-meeting which took place during the Oldtimer Grand Prix. The meeting took place from the 12th to the 14th of September 2005. Every Alfista from Germany and the surrounding countries was invited to join the meeting with his or her Alfa Romeo. So one could see nearly all the cars Alfa Romeo ever made between 1947 and today. E.g. there were an Alfa Romeo 1900, many Giulias, Giulia Sprint GTs, Alfetta GTVs, Spiders etc. But the Oldtimer Grand Prix has also been the first place for Alfa Romeo Germany where they presented the new Alfa159 to the public. Maybe some more "Oldtimer" (which is the German word for vintage or classic car) would have found a place on the parking lot besides the track if Alfa Romeo had not placed 20 silver Alfa 159s there... Some realy rare cars - a 1900 Touring Sprint for example - could not join the other cars because there was no more room left. Those cars had to stay at the D3 parking lot about half a kilometre away from the track. Besides some already well known cars as Markus Fleck's
fast Alfasud Ti 1.7 16V, one had the chance to see
some freshly restored Alfasuds. E.g. there was a red Alfasud 1.5 QO (Golden
Cloverleaf) with 14" Ronal A1 rims and Alfasud Valentino interior, which had
made the long way from Nothern Germany to the Nürburgring. A stroll on the D3 parking lot showed that some Alfasuds did not find a place near the track, too. I found a beautiful and quite original Alfasud Ti 1.5 Hatchback and a completely restored Alfasud Sprint series I. Finally two unmodified cars without larger wheels, spoilers, bright yellow paint or big exhaust pipes...
